Magaziner Spends District Work Period Meeting Constituents Across Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional District
Warwick, R.I. – During the summer district work period, Rep. Seth Magaziner (RI-02) traveled across Rhode Island’s Second Congressional District to meet with constituents, hear from community leaders, and discuss his work in Congress to fight for working people.
“From Burrillville to Block Island, Westerly to Warwick, I have been traveling across our state to talk directly with working Rhode Islanders,” said Rep. Magaziner. “The feedback I received from my constituents will help me best advocate for Rhode Island and inform my work in Congress to lower costs, strengthen the middle class, protect Social Security and Medicare, and defend abortion rights.”

Some highlights from this District Work Period:

Rep. Magaziner welcomed US Small Businesses Administrator Isabel Guzman to the Knightsville neighborhood Cranston to highlight how his office is working with the SBA to support Rhode Island small businesses. Together, they visited Lou Umberto's Italian Kitchen, Spark Bridal Outlet, and DiFruscia Industries.
Rep Magaziner also hosted a seniors town hall in Cranston, where he discussed protecting Social Security and Medicare and lowering costs for working people. He joined constituents and community leaders for several events, from the Cranston Greek Festival to a LiUNA Local 271 Membership Meeting to discuss strengthening and growing the middle class, securing better wages, benefits, and working conditions for Rhode Islanders.

At the Representative's district office in Warwick, Rep. Magaziner held a press conference with gun violence prevention activists to announce his ‘Keeping Gun Dealers Honest Act’ legislation that would help stop the flow of illegal firearms into our communities. Rep. Magaziner also held a roundtable discussion with striking RI members of SAG-AFTRA to discuss the workers’ rights to collectively bargain for better pay and benefits.
Rep. Magaziner also attended several community events in Warwick, including National Night Out with the Warwick Police Department, the Gaspee Day Parade, and a celebration Honoring CCRI President Meghan Hughes, Ph.D.

Rep. Magaziner headed to the northwestern region of Rhode Island’s Second Congressional District. In Glocester, he met with Police Chief Joseph DelPrete and local officials to discuss keeping Rhode Islanders safe, and the work he is doing in Congress to ensure that local police departments receive funding and support. Then, Rep. Magaziner went to Zambarano Hospital in Burrillville to discuss ways to support frontline union workers providing care to some of our state’s most vulnerable patients.

Rep. Magaziner traveled to Westerly and visited the Ocean Community YMCA and the Westerly Senior Citizens Center. Then, joined by Rep. Joe Courtney, Rep. Magaziner toured General Dynamics, Electric Boat in Groton, which employs hundreds of Rhode Islanders.

Rep. Magaziner also visited Charlestown, Richmond, and Exeter to hear from constituents and provide updates on the work he is doing in Congress to improve access to high-quality health care, build more affordable housing, protect native wildlife, and preserve Indigenous history.

Additionally, Rep. Magaziner attended several community events throughout the district work period, including the 77th India Day celebrations, Dominican Parade and Festival, 348th Annual Narragansett Indian Tribe Pow Wow, Greek Festival, St. Rocco’s Feast, Washington County Fair, and more.
Rep. Magaziner is back in Washington, D.C. this week as Congress resumes session, and planning for the next District Work Period is already underway.
