Protecting our Democracy
Among many reasons, Rep. Magaziner was inspired to run for Congress following the January 6th Capitol attack. Thanks to the heroic efforts of law enforcement, the violent mob that stormed the Capitol failed to overthrow our democracy that day. However, our democratic institutions remain under threat.
As the Ranking Member on the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence, Rep. Magaziner is working to root out domestic violent extremism and other pressing threats to our democracy and national security.
Rep. Magaziner also understands that real reform is needed to restore Americans’ faith in their government, which is why he supports overturning the Citizens United decision that allows unlimited spending in elections, supports banning members of congress from trading stocks, and has introduced legislation to enact term limits for members of congress.
