Magaziner Backs War Powers Legislation to Prevent Trump from Starting War with Iran

“Today I am cosponsoring legislation to prevent President Trump from taking further military action against Iran without the approval of Congress. For decades, the United States has repeatedly become stuck in wars in the Middle East, costing thousands of lives. The American people do not want our country to be caught up in another endless war.

Iran’s government continues to be a bad actor, and the legislation I have joined will still permit the President to take military action to prevent an imminent attack by Iran on the United States. But the decision to enter a wider war should not be made unilaterally by any President, and Congress must reclaim its authority under the constitution to determine whether to engage in broad military conflicts."
