Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was engaged in the familiar routine of congressional hearings Thursday, basking in Republican praise and fending off attacks from Democrats over the administration’s immigration tactics, when Rhode Island Representative Seth Magaziner broke up the traditional back and forth.

Thanks to almost half a million dollars in federal funding recently secured by U.S. Rep. Seth Magaziner, the Johnston Police Department has received new state-of-the-art portable radios and two new Harley-Davidson police motorcycles for the department’s special service unit.

Kent’s Hospital at Home program has proven to be a success improving the recovery of patients and freeing hospital beds for those in need of more acute care. On Thursday as he met with doctors and top level Care New England staff, U.S. Rep. Seth Magaziner thought the program could serve as a model for hospitals across the state.
But with the government shutdown, the program was placed on “pause.” All 10 patients who were recovering at home returned to the hospital.
At a joint press conference Friday, Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo publicly decried looming federal cuts to health care assistance they say would be devastating to Rhode Islanders. They were joined by leaders from the state health care industry as they pledged to fight the cuts in Washington.
