FY25 Community Project Funding Requests
Rep. Magaziner has submitted the following funding requests for 15 community projects in Rhode Island’s Second Congressional District to the House Appropriations Committee:
Town of Burrillville - Burrillville Field House (THUD - Economic Development Initiative)
- Project Description: The funding will support the construction of a new field house building (locker room, restrooms, storage, utility controls) to support an artificial turf field project at the Burrillville High School.

Town of Coventry - Municipal Collection Facility (THUD - Economic Development Initiative)
- Project Description: The funding will be used to establish a centralized municipal collection facility for efficient waste management, storm debris management, and infrastructure material storage.

Rhode Island Department of Transportation - Wood Street Stormwater and Flooding Mitigation (THUD - Economic Development Initiative)
- Project Description: The funding will be used for sidewalk replacement, roadway reconstruction and paving, and stormwater controls and repairs to prevent flooding on Wood Street in Coventry, Rhode Island.

City of Cranston - Garden Street Flood Mitigation (Interior- STAG)
- Project Description:The funding will be used to install bioretention basins to control stormwater in an area of the City that’s prone to flooding.

Town of Johnston - Flood Mitigation and Development of Woodland Park Project (THUD - Economic Development Initiative)
- Project Description: The funding will be used to relocate a public park in order to allow the Town to perform flood mitigation by creating a retention pond at the current site.

North Kingstown - Food Pantry (THUD - Economic Development Initiative)
- Project Description: The funding will be used to expand North Kingstown’s existing food pantry facility to improve food storage, delivery, and refrigeration and enhance the space for clients, staff, and volunteers.

North Kingstown - Community Center Revitalization Project (THUD - Economic Development Initiative)
- Project Description: The funding will be used to rehabilitate a historic building, the Old Town Hall, so it is fully code compliant and meets American with Disabilities Act requirements for public use by community organizations with interests vital to the well-being of the entire North Kingstown community.

City of Providence - Igliozzi Recreation Center Resilience Hub Renovation (THUD - Economic Development Initiative)
- Project Description: Funding will be used to make improvements to a community center to electrify it and allow it to maintain its power and services during emergencies, including combining the use of rooftop solar, battery energy storage systems, and generators.

Rhode Island College - Cyber Range: Emerging Technologies Hub for Research, Education, and Workforce Development (CJS-NIST)
- Project Description: Funding will be used for the establishment of a cyber range at the Institute for Cybersecurity & Emerging Technologies to conduct research on emerging cyber threats and defense mechanisms and train a cybersecurity workforce. The Cyber Range will serve as a dedicated and isolated platform to research cybersecurity solutions to artificial intelligence. This allows the Institute for Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies and Computer Science and Information Systems Department to lean into their strengths and provide research beneficial to local and national organizations that integrate AI into their workflows.

South Kingstown Housing Authority - Affordable Housing & Community Center Development (THUD - Economic Development Initiative)
- Project Description: The funding will be used to construct a community center that will enable SKHA to provide wrap-around services and case management on site, and serve as a meeting space for resident advisory boards, as well as to host outreach and registration events for federal assistance programs.

South Kingstown - Enhancing South Kingstown Town Beach: Resilience and Accessibility Upgrades (THUD - Economic Development Initiative)
- Project Description: The funding will enhance the resilience and accessibility of South Kingstown’s Town Beach, including relocating the existing playground and restroom facility, make ADA accessibility enhancements, install resiliency measures – including the installation of shoreline protection structures such as revetments or seawalls, dune building, revegetation efforts, or a combination of solutions to restore and fortify the coastline.

City of Warwick - Warwick Police Department Communications Upgrades (CJS-COPS)
- Project Description: The funding will be used to place a bulk, one-time purchase order for emergency response portable radios and mobile scanners for the Warwick Police Department.

- Project Description: The funding will be used to purchase and upfit emergency response vehicles that will allow the police department to improve hazard mitigation, investigations, and personnel and public safety.

- Project Description: The funding will be used to reline sewer pipes to help ensure the integrity of the town’s sewer system and protect the Pawcatuck River and its tributaries from being exposed to untreated effluent.

Wood River Health Services, Inc. - Expanding Healthcare Access to Hope Valley, RI Residents (AG- Rural Community Facilities Program)
- Project Description: The funding will be used to expand the ability of Wood River Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), to provide high quality, affordable medical, dental, behavioral health and social services to rural residents. This will be done by expanding the waiting area and streamlining intake efficiencies to better serve patients.
