Magaziner Statement on House Administration Committee Hearing on Stock Trading

November 19, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) – the Democratic co-lead of the leading bill to ban Members of Congress from trading stocks, Restore Trust in Congress Act – released the following statement in reaction to the House Administration Committee’s hearing today on congressional stock trading:

“The House Administration Committee’s hearing on congressional stock trading is a sign of the growing momentum we have to finally ban Members of Congress from trading stocks.

But the American people have made it clear that hearings alone are not enough. We have a strong, enforceable, bipartisan bill to ban stock trading once and for all, and we need Speaker Johnson to bring it to the floor immediately for a vote.

Hearings are an important first step, but now we need real action to end corruption and insider trading in Washington.”
