North Kingstown Vietnam War veteran receives long overdue medals

A North Kingstown veteran was recognized for his heroic actions Wednesday — more than 50 years after he served in the Vietnam War.

Rep. Seth Magaziner presented Specialist 4th Class Kenneth Barber with the military honors he earned but never received.

Barber joined the U.S. Army back in 1970 and piloted helicopters throughout the Vietnam War. His helicopter was instrumental during the December 1971 rescue of a U.S. Air Force crew.
