Homeland Security Committee Member Magaziner Statement on ICE Detainment of Rhode Island Superior Court Intern

November 20, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02), Ranking Member of the Counterterrorism and Intelligence Subcommittee on the House Homeland Security Committee, released the following statement in response to the wrongful targeting and detention of a Rhode Island Superior Court intern by ICE, who was only released after intervention by a judge.

“The incident today in Providence involving a Superior Court judge and the wrongful detainment of an intern by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement is completely unacceptable.

This is yet another example of the disregard for civil liberties by immigration enforcement under the Trump Administration.

As a Member of the House Homeland Security Committee, I will continue to call out the Administration’s reckless actions, in Rhode Island and across the county.”
