Magaziner Delivers New Federal Funding for Town of Foster Emergency Services

FOSTER, RI — Today, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) joined Foster Town Council President Steven Plouffe and Chief of Police Tyler Domingos to announce $475,000 of federal funding he secured foremergency services communications equipment for the Town of Foster.

“All Rhode Islanders deserve a swift response when they are in danger,” said Magaziner. “I am proud to deliver $475,000 of federal funding for the Town of Foster to upgrade its emergency communications equipment forstronger coordination and faster responses to keep residents safe.”

"In an emergency, effective communication can save lives,” said Steven Plouffe, Foster Town Council President. “This grant will help ensure that critical need is met and keep Foster residents safe. We thank Rep. Magaziner for working with us to secure this funding for our first responders.”

“On behalf of the Foster Police Department, I want to thank Rep. Magaziner for securing federal grant funding forthe Town of Foster,” said Tyler Domingos, Foster Police Chief. “This funding will strengthen our emergency response capabilities and improve coordination between our officers and first responders to help us protect our residents.”

The funding will be used to upgrade the Town of Foster’s emergency radio equipment to 800 MHz radios, allowing them to integrate with statewide public safety communication systems.

The equipment upgrades will benefit first responders, including police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS), by enhancing emergency communication capabilities and improving response times, coordination during emergencies, and communication between different agencies.

Rep. Magaziner secured the funding through the Fiscal Year 2026 government appropriations legislation.
