Magaziner Statement on Appointment of Bill Pulte as Acting Director of National Intelligence

June 2, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02), Ranking Member on the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, released the following statement on the appointment of Bill Pulte to be acting director of national intelligence:

“President Trump’s appointment of Bill Pulte as acting director of national intelligence makes the American people less safe.

Pulte has no experience in intelligence work. He was chosen because he has shown a willingness to use the levers of government to target the President’s political rivals.

The President is building an administration of political gangsters, not public servants, and Pulte’s appointment is the latest example.”
