Magaziner Statement on His Vote Against House NDAA Bill that Fails to Address Trump Misuse of Military

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) released the below statement following his vote against the House version of the National Defense Authorization Act, which sets annual defense policy for the country and authorizes Department of Defense (DoD) funding. 

“This bill fails to address President Trump’s misuse of the military and rein in his abuses of power, including illegally deploying military into American cities to target US citizens without the consent of state and local leaders. There are no guardrails in this bill to stop these abuses of power or to ensure the military is used responsibly.

I hope both parties can come together to pass a final bill before the end of the year that not only supports our troops but also puts strong safeguards in place to prevent further misuse of military force by the President.”
