Magaziner Statement on President Trump’s Executive Orders

January 21, 2025

“Donald Trump had the opportunity to start his new administration as a unifier for our country. Instead, he has chosen to take a series of extreme actions that will further divide us by making it easier for the wealthy to cheat ontheir taxes, for big corporations to pollute, for the government to discriminate against LGBTQ+ Americans, and eliminating funding for public health, among other extreme actions. His decision to pardon violent criminals who attacked police officers at the Capitol on January 6th sends a particularly dangerous message.

“None of these orders will strengthen the economy or lower costs, which is what the American people care about the most. I remain committed to working with the administration whenever it is good for Rhode Island, but President Trump needs to listen to the people who want common sense solutions and not endless culture wars.”
