Speaking on the House Floor, Magaziner Expresses Outrage at Republicans’ Plan to Hurt Rhode Island Children and Seniors
Washington, D.C. – This morning, Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) spoke on the House Floor to denounce House Republicans, who are threatening to drive the United States economy into default unless Congress approves their plan to slash funding for working people, including children and seniors.
“I rise today to express my outrage at the extreme MAGA Republicans in this House who are fighting to take food out of the mouths of children, medicine out of the hands of seniors, and relief out of the pockets of working people, all to fund their tax cuts for the billionaires and corporations that fund their campaigns.” said Rep. Magaziner. “These reverse Robin Hoods on the Republican side who seek to steal from the working people to benefit the rich need to stop this craziness and end this thing today.”
According to the U.S. Treasury Department, the debt ceiling could be breached as soon as June 1 if Congress fails to raise the debt limit. House Republicans have been threatening to allow the country to default unless funding is cut for programs that assist children, seniors and veterans.
