WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) introduced the Ensuring Accountability and Dignity in Government Contracting Act of 2025, along with Representatives David Valadao (CA-22), Mike Turner (OH-10), Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08), and Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH).
“It is deeply alarming that Elon Musk, an unelected and unvetted billionaire, has taken over the data and payment system that the U.S. Treasury uses to manage trillions in federal funds, including Social Security and Medicare benefits, tax refunds, and federal salaries. The situation is dangerous and unprecedented.
We cannot allow Musk and his associates to continue to have unrestricted access to the private information of millions of Americans and control over federal funds with no oversight.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02)introduced two amendments to improve H.R. 27 the Halt All Lethal Trafficking of (HALT) Fentanyl Act, a bill that is scheduled for consideration on the House Floor in the coming days.
“It is welcome news that in the face of public outrage, President Trump has withdrawn his illegal order cutting off funding for critical health care, education, infrastructure, and other programs.
“Nevertheless, the fight is not over. We continue to hear reports of service providers unable to access federal funds they are entitled to, and we must continue to oppose any Trump Administration effort to deny funding to vital programs that Rhode Islanders are entitled to.”
“Donald Trump has thrown the country into chaos by announcing his intention to illegally block funding from programs that people rely on for health care, food, public safety, education, and other essential needs.
“I have been hearing from service providers, small businesses, and every day Rhode Islanders who are worried about the impact that this order will have. The guidance being circulated by the administration is vague and contradictory, and the order itself is almost certainly unconstitutional.

On the Homeland Security Committee, Magaziner will serve again as the Ranking Member and top Democrat on the subcommittee onCounterterrorism and Intelligence, and will also join the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection subcommittee.
