WASHINGTON, DC – This week, heavy rain and snowmelt has caused significant flooding across Rhode Island.  Some residents were forced to evacuate by boats or with the assistance of firefighters and have been displaced into emergency evacuation facilities.

WARWICK, RI — Today, Rep. Seth Magaziner (RI-02) announced the introduction of his bipartisan bill, the Clean Energy Workforce Act, which will create a grant program to fund career and technical education (CTE) to connect Rhode Islanders to good-paying jobs in the growing clean energy economy. This legislation is supported by union leaders, environmental advocates, and career and technical education program coordinators across Rhode Island.

Providence, RI – U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today announced $444,282 in federal funding for the Tomaquag Indian Memorial Museum, Rhode Island’s only Native-led museum.  The grant, administered by the National Endowment for the Humanities, will support the construction of a new permanent home for Tomaquag Museum at the University of Rhode Island’s Kingston campus.

WASHINGTON, DC – As Rhode Island assesses flood damage and begins to recover from a severe storm system that moved through the state earlier this week, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and U.S. Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo are urging President Biden to promptly approve any request for federal assistance made by the State of Rhode Island to support emergency operations and accelerate recovery from significant local flooding.

Washington, D.C. — Today, Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) voted to pass H.R.2670, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24). The legislation – which includes support for the submarine program at Quonset, pay raises for Service Members, and language authored by Magaziner to expand affordable housing around shipbuilding hubs – will now head to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law.

WASHINGTON, DC -- In an effort to assist small businesses and nonprofits affected by the emergency closure of the Washington Bridge that began on December 11, 2023, Rhode Island's Congressional delegation sent a letter urging the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to promptly review any disaster assistance request from the state and to provide resources to help those impacted.

Washington, D.C. — Today, Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) and Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) led 57 Members of Congress in a letter urging the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to move swiftly to prevent creditors from using information about Americans’ medical debt to determine credit worthiness.
