Reed, Magaziner Host Hundreds for Town Hall in Johnston

August 6, 2025

JOHNSTON, RI – U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) and U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) hosted a town hall yesterday evening in Johnston to answer questions from Rhode Islanders and provide updates on their work in Washington.

The two-hour event drew over 250 constituents to the Johnston Senior High School auditorium, where Reed and Magaziner discussed key issues facing Rhode Islanders. Topics included protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid; lowering costs and building an economy that works for the middle class; and pushing back against extreme policies coming from Washington.

“I am always grateful to hear directly from constituents in the Second Congressional District,” said Magaziner. “This well-attended town hall showed that Rhode Islanders continue to want their representatives to focus on lowering costs, protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and safeguarding our democracy.”

“Rhode Islanders have a clear message – they’re worried about costs and they’re upset at President Trump’s chaotic and self-interested policies. I agree. Meetings like this are about listening and working to address those every day concerns,” said Reed.  “My mission is to get things done for Rhode Islanders and deliver for our state – strengthening our schools, making Rhode Island more affordable, keeping our communities safe, and protecting people’s rights.”
