“For decades now, politicians have sent American service members to fight and die in the Middle East in wars of choice, not necessity.

The Iranian people deserve freedom from their oppressive regime, but I am deeply skeptical that American troops should be sent to war in the Middle East in the absence of an immediate threat to our country yet again.

I am monitoring the situation closely and praying for the safety of our troops and of innocent civilians throughout the region.”

“Today, pursuant to my oversight duties as a member on the House Committee on Homeland Security, I conducted an inspection of the Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls. As with other inspections I have conducted of ICE and Border Patrol detention facilities, my focus was on assessing the condition of the facility and the ability of detainees to have basic needs met including access to legal counsel, due process, medical services, and nutrition.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — Today, U.S. Rep. Seth Magaziner (RI-02) presented Vietnam veteran, Specialist 4th Class Kenneth Barber with military honors he earned during his service but never received. 

Barber enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970 for a three-year term, during which he piloted helicopters in Vietnam. Decades later, after Barber contacted Magaziner’s office for assistance, those long-overdue medals were finally issued and presented today during a small ceremony.
