WASHINGTON, DC — Today U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) applauded the news that Donna Hughes-Brown, a legal U.S. resident and the wife of U.S. Navy combat veteran Jim Brown of Missouri has been released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention. Mrs. Hughes-Brown was immediately released after winning her cancellation of removal hearing on December 18, 2025, ending the deportation proceedings against her.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) today released the following statement in response to the antisemitic mass shooting terrorist attack at a Jewish holiday celebration in Sydney, Australia:

“Today, we woke up to news of another mass shooting, this one targeting Jews in Australia. This tragic event is a reminder that violent antisemitism continues to be a pressing global problem. May the memories of the victims be a blessing.”

“I am deeply saddened by the shooting that occurred today on Brown University’s campus and am praying for the victims and their families. It is devastating that this tragedy struck so close to home today, targeting innocent members of the Brown Community as they prepared to head home for the holidays.
