WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Rep. Seth Magaziner will soon introduce legislation that would make wage theft a felony nationwide.

The Don’t Stand for Taking Employed American’s Livings (Don’t STEAL) Act is designed to protect workers from the “bad actors” who pay them less than promised, deny them overtime and, in some cases, steal their tips, according to Magaziner.

Washington, DC – In an effort to ensure Rhode Island firefighters have the equipment and training they need to safely and effectively protect and serve their communities, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today announced $3,277,138 in federal grants for fire departments in Warwick, Pawtucket, and Burrillville and the Rhode Island Fire Academy.
